In 2020, Holly Stromberg and her husband made a significant life change, relocating from California to Tennessee. While they cherish the memories of their former home, they have embraced the beauty and tranquility of their new surroundings. This move marked a fresh chapter for their family, and though they miss their previous home, they’ve found a sense of peace in the welcoming nature of Tennessee. The couple has three grown children—each of whom has spread out across the country. Their oldest lives in Virginia, their middle child is in Iowa, and their youngest is in Colorado. All three are happily married and have blessed Holly and her husband with a total of 10 grandchildren, filling their lives with immense joy and love.
Holly's professional journey has spanned nearly five decades, and she has been a dedicated registered nurse for an impressive 48 years. Throughout her career, she has built a diverse and well-rounded skill set, with significant experience in a wide variety of acute care settings. Her work has included Critical Care, Medical/Surgical, Dialysis, Cath Lab, and House Supervision. Additionally, she has served as a Clinical Educator, guiding and mentoring new generations of nurses. Each of these roles has not only refined her clinical expertise but has also deepened her passion for providing compassionate care to those in need.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of Holly's career was her time spent teaching nursing at a community college. For 20 years, she had the privilege of educating aspiring nurses while continuing her hands-on work at the hospital. Balancing the demands of both teaching and clinical practice was challenging, but it enriched her understanding of healthcare and allowed her to bring real-world insights into the classroom. Over the years, many of her former students have gone on to build successful careers, and knowing she played a part in their growth has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her journey.
Though her time in Home Care was brief, it provided Holly with a unique perspective on patient care. Home care allowed her to develop deeper, more personal relationships with patients, offering individualized and compassionate care in the comfort of their homes. While this chapter of her career was short, it reinforced her belief in the power of personalized, patient-centered care.
Looking back on her extensive career, Holly feels an overwhelming sense of gratitude. She’s thankful for the countless patients she has had the privilege of caring for, the dedicated colleagues she has worked alongside, and the students she has helped shape into capable and compassionate nurses. Nursing has always been more than just a profession for her—it’s been a lifelong calling, one that has brought her both challenges and profound rewards.
Now, settled in Tennessee, Holly enjoys spending more time with her family, especially her husband, children, and grandchildren. Although her active nursing career may have slowed down, her commitment to service remains as strong as ever. As she reflects on the experiences that have shaped her life, Holly looks forward to this new phase, eager to embrace the adventures that lie ahead and continue making a positive impact in the lives of those around her.
Holly is honored to serve as a Nursing Instructor at Freedom Christian Academy.
