Meka Henderson and her family are life-long natives of Cocke County, Tennessee. They live in small mountain community of Del Rio. Meka has been married to her husband John for 19 years serving in various capacities in the church. She has two beautiful children. Their family enjoys exploring new places and learning new things together.

Meka’s prior experience includes teaching with Jefferson County Schools for 2 years as a K-5 special education teacher and teaching in the Cocke County Schools. She has taught K-8 special education (contained and inclusive) as well as 4th grade. She has also taught homebound students and served as a Tier 2 Reading Interventionist for struggling readers while developing the county’s RTI plan for schools. Meka also served as After School Director providing various after school opportunities and homework help for students. She currently serves as a virtual tutor with Littera Education providing additional instruction in reading and math for K-8 students nation-wide. Meka also teaches piano to students ranging from 4-adult.

Meka has homeschooled her two children from the very beginning. Her children are very active in music (violin, banjo, and piano), karate, the arts (including theatre) and anything horse-related. Meka serves as her church’s pianist and nursery Sunday School teacher.

Meka enjoys baking/cooking, cake decorating, playing piano and organ, singing, reading, and spending time with her family.

She is honored to be working with such a wonderful staff of people at Freedom Fellowship Christian Academy!
